Our 5th grade tour guides did a terrific job welcoming new families and Kindergarten families to OCRS yesterday. Our tour guides made sure to point out important places around the school building, like the water bottle filling stations. Mr. Barrette joined Kindergarten students and families for a practice bus ride! Thank you to our friends at DATTCO for teaching us about bus safety.

Just an FYI from our school nurse, Mrs. Forte, that we are seeing an increase in diagnosed cases of strep in both students and staff. If your child complains of a sore throat and/or fever, you may want to contact your child's pediatrician. Please find attached a fact sheet from the RIDOH about strep.

this morning and, based upon the current forecast and guidance from RI DEM, WE WILL BE MOVING FORWARD WITH 5TH GRADE FIELD DAY TODAY. See the email from Mr. Barrette for details and contingency plans.
Hello 5th grade families,
As you know, the district wide 5th Grade Field Day outside at Deerfield Park is scheduled for tomorrow, June 6th. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management has issued an Air Quality Alert for tomorrow related to the fires in Nova Scotia. All three elementary schools are monitoring the situation and will decide together tomorrow morning whether the Field Day needs to be cancelled for the safety of students and staff.
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management has issued an Air Quality Action Day for Fine Particulates, from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Tuesday night.
An Air Quality Action day means that Fine Particulates concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. For additional information, please visit the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management website at:
