Before the Holiday Break, our 5th grade students were challenged to work together as a team to devise a strategy to successfully stack 6 boxes on top of each other. As you can see, they clearly rose to the challenge!

Thank you for participating in the National Honor Society Care Package Donation Drive! There were 500 items collected at Old County, and over 2,000 items collected overall! I really appreciate all of the donations from students, parents, and faculty! I am attaching photos of all of the items collected at Old County and throughout the district. Thank you again for participating in our donation drive!
This Friday, 11/15, we're going to begin our day by inviting some OCRS family members that are veterans to join us for School Meeting. To honor our visitors, as well as all veterans, we are asking students and staff to wear red, white, and blue to school this Friday.
Reminder, NO SCHOOL this Thursday, 11/14. Elementary teachers have a Professional Development Day and secondary teachers are hosting parent-teacher conferences.
Just a quick reminder that the PTA meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday, November 13th at 7:00 p.m. The 5th Grade Committee meeting will still take place this Thursday, November 7th at 6:00 p,m.
The 5th graders were "treated" to some Halloween Science with Dr. Paolucci yesterday. Our students learned about physical reactions vs. chemical reactions and fluorescence vs. phosphorescence. However, the biggest hit with the 5th graders was learning about vaporization and combustion!

On Friday, all students and staff are invited to wear their most comfortable sweats, flannel, and sweatshirts to school. 𝙋𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙣𝙤 𝙥𝙖𝙟𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨 (𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡).
Thank you to our friends at Jaswell's Farm for a terrific field trip this morning for our 1st graders. The students learned all about how pumpkins grow ("The Pumpkin Circle"), took a hayride to the pumpkin patch and were able to pick out their very own pumpkin!

On Saturday, the OCRS PTA is hosting a Trunk or Treat in the OCRS parking lot from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The parking lot will close to vehicles who signed up to decorate their trunks at 5:45 p.m. to ensure a safe space for students to trick or treat. 𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝙞𝙣 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡, 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙, 𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙣 𝙊𝙡𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙮 𝙍𝙤𝙖𝙙. The 5th grade committee is also preparing a "Haunted Trail" as part of the evening. It looks to be a really fun event and all OCRS families are invited to attend.
