4th grade practicing math skills

Hello OCRS families,

Thank you to the PTA and all of the parent volunteers that organized and ran the "Penguin Patch" Holiday Shop last week! We appreciate all of your hard work and the time you spent supporting our students last week.

As the holidays approach, we know that students are VERY excited and we have noticed an increase in students bringing personal toys and electronic devices to school with them. Just a reminder, students need to leave personal toys and electronic devices at home (including video games and smartwatches/wearables). We appreciate the support of all families in this matter. The school is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged toys or devices.

Distribution of Report Cards on Monday, 12/12

Students' Trimester 1 report cards will be available to view through the online Campus Parent Portal after 12:00 noon tomorrow (Monday) December 12th. Parents and families can access the online Campus Parent Portal at https://smithfieldri.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/smithfield.jsp. Instructions on how to login and view your child's report card are linked here.

Report cards are based on year end goals, so the Trimester 1 Report Card indicates progress demonstrated during this period of learning towards the year end goals. Teachers have worked together with their colleagues across the district to make sure that the information that parents receive accurately reflects the learning that is taking place.

Dr. Monaco, our assistant superintendent, shared guides for families on the elementary report cards in the November District Newsletter. You can also find links for each grade level guide below:

If any family has questions or concerns about their child's Trimester 1 report card, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher. You can also discuss any questions during Parent-Teacher conferences on Thursday.

If any family has difficulty logging into their Campus Parent Portal account, please email Mrs. Deus at mdeus@smithfield-ps.org or Mr. Barrette at pbarrette@smithfield-ps.org.

Holiday Concert, Wednesday, 12/14

The OCRS Holiday Concert will be held at school in the gymnasium on the morning of Wednesday, 12/14 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. In order to make sure that we host an organized and safe event that follows the occupancy guidelines of our school spaces, we have created a schedule that lists the time when each grade level will perform. Ms. Schug has shared with the students that this is a "medium sized" concert with two songs performed by each grade level.

Students' families can choose to attend during the time slot their student(s) will be performing. We will also livestream the concert for any families that are unable to attend in person or would prefer to watch the livestream. Our livestream URL is https://live.myvrspot.com/st?cid=OWZiOD and families can join the live stream on Wednesday morning.
