2nd grade pumpkin investigation

Hello OCRS families,

The beginning of this week looks to be much cooler, particularly first thing in the morning. Fall has definitely arrived. Students should bring a sweatshirt or light jacket to school with them every day. We are going to continue to spend time outside for mask breaks and activities as long as the weather allows, so those sweatshirts and jackets will definitely help!

Back to School Report #9

Like last year, Dr. Paolucci will be sharing a weekly report with Smithfield families to provide the latest information on COVID-19 information and protocols. If you have not already read this week's "Back to School" report shared by Dr. Paolucci, please take a few moments to review it at https://www.smithfield-ps.org/article/561117.

Smithfield Fire Safety Presentations

This Tuesday morning members of the Smithfield Fire Department will be visiting Old County Road School to talk to our students about fire safety. Please don't worry if you see fire engines or equipment parked at the school! We are going to either hold the sessions outside on the basketball courts or inside in the gym to allow students to spread out. We may even have a visit from Sparky the Fire Dog!

Smithfield Apple Trails

Apple Trails is a fun hunting adventure encouraging visitors to explore our apple orchards and scenic walking trails in Smithfield. The Economic Development Commission, in partnership with the Land Trust and Conservation Commissions, will hide glass apples randomly across our apple orchards and conservation walking trails.

Please see the linked flyer for additional information and details about this fun event!

PTA Trunk or Treat

The PTA is bringing back Trunk or Treat! This year's Trunk or Treat will be held on Friday, 10/29 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at Old County Road School. In order to ensure that we have a safe event for all, we are asking each family to choose one 45-minute slot during which to attend the event. This will allow us to reduce crowding and help kids and families space out more easily.

If your family decorates a vehicle truck, you will need to commit to stay for the entire event from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., not for just one of the time slots.

This is a peanut free event, so any candy distributed must be peanut free!

Please indicate your interest to attend the Trunk or Treat and select a time slot using this Google Form, https://forms.gle/5YQYnr5qQiPJoFJM6.
