Hello OCRS families,
I hope that families have been able to enjoy the long weekend!
As we continue in October, the weather is also starting to get cooler, so students should bring a sweatshirt or light jacket to school with them every day. We are going to continue to spend time outside for mask breaks and activities as long as the weather allows, so those sweatshirts and jackets will definitely help!
Back to School Report #8
Like last year, Dr. Paolucci will be sharing a weekly report with Smithfield families to provide the latest information on COVID-19 information and protocols. Bus 2 Changes Due to Road Closure
This information was shared with Bus 2 families last week
We have been notified by the bus company that this week the town will be doing sewer main repair work and Whipple Avenue between Fenwood Avenue and Higgins Street will be closed to through traffic. This means that some stops for Bus 2 need to be adjusted. Here is the specific information from the bus company broken down by bus stop:
Whipple Ave @ Higgins St Bus Stop
The bus will be approaching from Higgins St. and continuing to Homestead Ave.
46 Fenwood Ave Bus Stop
This bus stop needs to be moved to the Portuguese American Club on Fenwood Ave.
19 Farnum Pike Bus Stop
This bus will pass by twice during the construction. Students should be outside at their regular time.
Farnum Pike @ Wolf Hill Rd Bus Stop
This bus will pass by twice during the construction. Students should be outside at their regular time.
Farnum Pike @ Georgia Ct Bus Stop
This bus will pass by twice during the construction. Students should be outside at their regular time.

PTA Trunk or Treat
The PTA is bringing back Trunk or Treat! This year's Trunk or Treat will be held on Friday, 10/29 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at Old County Road School. In order to ensure that we have a safe event for all, we are asking each family to choose one 45-minute slot during which to attend the event. This will allow us to reduce crowding and help kids and families space out more easily.
If your family decorates a vehicle truck, you will need to commit to stay for the entire event from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., not for just one of the time slots.
This is a peanut free event, so any candy distributed must be peanut free!

Smithfield Youth Council Event
The Smithfield Youth Council is sponsoring a "Stand for Inclusivity" event on Sunday, 10/17 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Stillwater Scenic Trail. Please see the attached flyer for additional information and details about the event.

5th Grade Committee Meeting, Wednesday 10/13 at 6:00 p.m.
The first meeting for the 5th grade committee will be on Wednesday, October 13th at 6pm in the media center at OCRS. I hope you can join us! We will be discussing fundraising ideas and other activities we'd like to plan for our 5th graders.
