Old County Road Elementary School

Dear OCRS Families,

Welcome back to another exciting school year at Old County Road Elementary! I am very excited to begin the school year with you. The staff and I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable summer break, filled with memorable moments with your loved ones. As we embark on a new academic year, we are thrilled to see our hallways buzzing with the energy and enthusiasm of our students once again.

School Hours

The school hours for OCRS students are 8:15 AM to 2:45 PM. Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:45 AM through 8:15 AM. Students who arrive at school after 8:15 AM will be considered tardy. Consistent daily, on-time attendance is crucial to the success of students!

First Day of School

The first day of school for students in grades 1 through 5 is Tuesday, August 26th. Kindergarten students have a screening appointment during the week of August 26, and their first day of school is Friday, August 29. Kindergarten families arrive at 9:00am on that Friday.

When will families find out who their child’s teacher is?

Classroom teacher assignments for students in grades 1 through 5 will be shared with families via email on Monday, August 18th. All three elementary schools will send this information out on the same day to be consistent.

New Student Tour and Bus Rider Orientation

The DATTCO transportation Company has agreed to provide a short bus informational session on August 20th at 9:30am for our Kindergarteners on bus safety. The event will last 45 minutes. The kindergarten students will then be able to board the buses and ride around the block. If your Kindergartener has never ridden the school bus, this is a great opportunity for them to get an introduction before school starts the following week. You do not need to register; simply come to OCRS.

New students are invited to Old County for a tour of the school with the principal, Amanda Confreda for an opportunity for new families to view the school prior to the start of school. The new student tour will follow the bus rider orientation. You do not need to register; simply come to OCRS.

Back to School Bash

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and will be held on the Old County School playground.

This is not a "drop off" event; a parent/guardian must accompany each student. While teachers and staff are invited to attend the event, please note that this is not a "Meet the Teacher" event, and teachers and staff may already have personal or family commitments. Students and families should not expect to meet their teacher at this event. Please join the OCRS PTA for a fun event to kick-off the school year!
