From the School Nurse

Dear Parents,

Thank you to all of our parents who are calling in when their child is absent. We are continuing to monitor types of illness so we can report any unusual increase back to our Old County Road School families. We have confirmed cases of influenza being reported in our school.

Here is the RI Department of Health Influenza Reporting for this season.

We ask all parents to continue to call in to the school on the morning of the absence.  When calling in make sure you report all symptoms. For example, if your child has a fever with a cough and sore throat please state your child is absent with “a fever, cough and sore throat” Include other symptoms such as diarrhea, stomach ache, runny nose, headache, body aches, etc. The more information we have, the more accurate our reporting.

We have had reports of Strep throat, ILI (influenza like illness), stomachaches, fevers, sore throats, cough, and stomach flu including diarrhea and vomiting, colds, croup, pink eye and head lice as well as Mono.

For additional information please take a look at Communicable Conditions Resources: Information for OCRS Community Parents and Staff

We thank all of our parents who call in and inform us of illnesses and ask that all parents continue calling in so we may have information to provide to our entire school community

Sincerely,

Mrs. Forte
