PTA Pasta Dinner

Hello OCRS families,

It's hard to believe, but we have three more weeks of school before April Break! The school calendar is VERY busy during these next three weeks, so it's important to keep up with all of the events through these Weekly Updates and to view the OCRS calendar on our school website at https://oldcounty.smithfield-ps.org/o/old-county-road-elementary/page/monthly-calendar

NO SCHOOL Days Over the Next Two Weeks

There are two no school days over the next two weeks that we want to make sure that all families are aware of.

  • NO SCHOOL, Friday March 29th for Good Friday

  • NO SCHOOL, Tuesday April 2nd for a Primary Election Day

There IS school on Monday, April 1st!

Trimester 2 Report Cards

Students' Trimester 2 report cards will be available to view through the online Campus Parent Portal after school on Monday, March 25th. Parents and families can access the online Campus Parent Portal at https://smithfieldri.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/smithfield.jsp. Instructions on how to login and view your child's report card are linked here.

Report cards are based on year end goals, so the Trimester 2 Report Card indicates progress demonstrated during this period of learning towards the year end goals. Some goals cannot be fully reached until the final report card because the concept or standard has not yet been taught, so it's to be expected for students to receive few, if any, "4s" as grades in their academic areas. Teachers have worked together with their colleagues across the district to make sure that the information that parents receive accurately reflects the learning that is taking place.

Dr. Monaco, our assistant superintendent, has created guides for families on the elementary report cards. You can find links for each grade level guide below:

If any family has questions or concerns about their child's report card, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher.

If any family has difficulty logging into their Campus Parent Portal account, please email Mrs. Deus at mdeus@smithfield-ps.org or Mr. Barrette at pbarrette@smithfield-ps.org.

We are proud of our 3rd, 4th & 5th graders and this is an opportunity for them to shine!

Unified Champion School Plunge

Thank you to two of our wonderful paraprofessionals, Mrs. LaGreca and Mrs. Lima, for participating in the 8th annual Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools Plunge! This past Saturday morning, Mrs. LaGreca and Mrs. Lima plunged into 40ish degree water (in the rain) at Roger Wheeler State Beach in Narragansett. They took the plunge to support students with different abilities and to raise funds for our new "Good Vibe Tribe" Special Olympics Youth Leadership Club. We have received 15 student leadership applications from 3rd & 4th grade students and we're looking forward to kicking off the OCRS "Good Vibe Tribe" in the next few weeks!
