Hello OCRS families,
Today we set our clocks 1-hour forward and the first day of Spring is just over a week away! It's nice to see more daylight and the weather beginning to get warmer. The temperatures in the morning still start out chilly, so it's important for students to come to school dressed in layers to keep them warm during morning arrival and for any morning outdoor activities.
FREE screening of the film, “Screenagers: Growing Up In The Digital Age”
The district is hosting a free screening of the movie "Screenagers" on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the Smithfield High School auditorium. This event is recommended for families and students in 5th grade or older. PTA "Get Lucky" BINGO Hosted by the 5th Grade
The OCRS PTA 5th grade committee is running a "Get Lucky" BINGO night on Friday, March 15th at 6:00 PM. All OCRS students and families are welcome to attend!
The 5th Grade BINGO nights have been a LOT of fun in the past years because the 5th grade students run the event, announce the BINGO numbers, and assist with cards in the audience.
OCRS PTA Pasta Dinner, Thursday March 21st at 5:30 PM
The OCRS PTA is organizing a Family Pasta Dinner to be held on Thursday, March 21st from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM in the Smithfield High School cafeteria. The dinner includes Pasta and meatballs, Bread and Salad, and Dessert and Refreshments. There will also be 50/50 raffles, music, and other fun activities!
The cost will be $10 per adult and $8 per child. Children ages 3 and under will be free of charge. All proceeds are to benefit the OCRS PTA. Advanced ticket purchase is required using the link below or by scanning the QR code on the linked flyer.

2024 RIDE SurveyWorks for Families
The Rhode Island Department of Education is currently administering its annual SurveyWorks Family Survey, which is an opportunity for parents and guardians to provide feedback about our school and our children's opportunities to learn. The survey results are most useful when all parents and guardians participate, so we're writing to ask you to take a few minutes during the next two weeks to complete this online survey.
Your views are important on matters like the safety of your child at school, the way students are taught, the condition of the school, and how connected you feel to our school. By taking this short survey, you can help our school leadership and our PTA continue to work to make Old County Road School the absolute best school that it can be! Responses are anonymous and cannot be linked to any individual; no one can tie your responses back to you.
You can take the short online survey through March 31st, but we are asking all OCRS families to complete the survey by March 14th in order to help us increase participation.

PTA Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 23rd
The PTA is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on the OCRS playground on Saturday, March 23rd at 9:00 AM. The Egg Hunt will take place rain or shine and Boy Scout Troop 1 is helping to assemble the eggs.
