Hello OCRS families,
We have two weeks until the Holiday Break and there are lots of things going on for all families! Everyone is very busy this time of year, so please take a minute to look below for important information from the school and district.
Trimester 1 Report Cards
Students' Trimester 1 report cards will be available to view through via online Campus Parent Portal after 1:00 PM on Monday, December 11th. Parents and families can access the online Campus Parent Portal at https://smithfieldri.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/smithfield.jsp. Click for instructions on how to login and view your child's report card.
Report cards are based on year end goals, so the Final Report Card indicates progress demonstrated during this period of learning towards the year end goals. Some goals cannot be fully reached until the final report card because the concept or standard has not yet been taught, so it's to be expected for students to receive few, if any, "4s" as grades in their academic areas. Teachers have worked together with their colleagues across the district to make sure that the information that parents receive accurately reflects the learning that is taking place.

If any family has questions or concerns about their child's report card, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher.

Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, 12/13
Parent-teacher conferences for elementary families are scheduled for Wednesday, 12/13. There is NO SCHOOL for students on Wednesday, 12/13. All conferences are scheduled by appointment between 1:00 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Teachers have reached out to families to schedule appointments. If for some reason you have NOT received a communication from your child's teacher to schedule a conference, please email your child's teacher ASAP to schedule a conference.

Wear holiday colors (red, green, gold, blue, yellow) to celebrate the season!
Tuesday, December 19th: Sweater Weather
Wear an ugly holiday sweater or holiday shirt!
Wednesday, December 20th: Holiday Headgear
Wear your favorite holiday hat or headband!
Thursday, December 21st: Seasonal Socks
Wear holiday or crazy socks! For safety reasons, no slippers please!
Friday, December 22nd: Polar Express Pajama Day
Wear pajamas and cozy up to a read aloud of The Polar Express.

Flu and COVID Vaccination Clinic
There is a free community flu and COVID vaccination clinic being held at OCRS this Tuesday, 12/12 from 4PM to 7PM. This is a great opportunity for any community members, students, or family members who are still looking to get their flu and/or COVID vaccination. While some walk-ins are available, please go to https://www.thewellcomp.com/Registrations/ChooseSchool.aspx to register.
PTA Penguin Patch Holiday Shop
The PTA Penguin Patch Holiday Store is a fun way for students to shop for family members and experience the spirit of giving while learning to earn, budget and save! This event will be going to be held during the school day on December 11th, 12th, and 15th. If anyone would like to volunteer, please reach out to JessRDHNYC@gmail.com. Any volunteer will have needed to complete Mr. Barrette's Volunteer Training and have an up to date BCI on file.
PTA 5th Grade Uno's Dough Raiser
