This is our final FULL week of school (the last two days of school are Monday 6/10 and Tuesday 6/11) and we are looking to end this school year strong, continuing to learn even as we celebrate the end of this year.
Important Information
School Spirit Days this week
To celebrate the last full week of school, we are having four School Spirit Days where staff and students get to wear something special. Here is a description of each day:
- Tuesday, June 4th - 80's Day (at the request of the 5th grade students)
- Wednesday, June 5th - Tie dye/Rainbow Day
- Thursday, June 6th - Beach hat sun glasses day
- Friday, June 7th - USA Spirit Day (Red, White, and Blue)

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week
The OCRS PTA is celebrating Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week this week, now that state testing, field trips, and Field Day are all complete. Please wish your child's teacher and the staff at OCRS a Happy Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week and let them know how much you appreciate them!
Kindergarten Celebration
The Kindergarten Celebration will take place on Thursday, June 6th at 9:00 a.m. in the OCRS cafeteria. All Kindergarten families and family members are welcome to come and celebrate with us!
5th Grade D.A.R.E. Celebration
The 5th grade D.A.R.E. Celebration will take place on Thursday, June 6th at 1:00 p.m. in the OCRS cafeteria. All 5th grade families and family members are welcome to come and celebrate with us! The PTA 5th Grade Committee will be hosting a party for the students immediately after the ceremony.
Thank you for a terrific Field Day
Thank you Mr. Gruczka, teachers and staff, parent volunteers, and the Old County Road School PTA for a terrific Field Day! As you can see from the pictures attached at the end, everyone seemed to have a great time with the activities and enjoyed the PTA "After Field Day" party.
Upcoming Dates and Events
Kindergarten Celebration, Thursday June 6th at 9:00 a.m.
A celebration ceremony for Kindergarten students and their families will be held on Thursday, June 6th at 9:00 a.m. in the OCRS Cafeteria.
5th Grade D.A.R.E. Celebration, Thursday June 6th at 1:00 p.m.
A ceremony to celebrate the 5th grade students' completion of the Smithfield D.A.R.E. program will be held on Thursday, June 6th at 1:00 p.m. in the OCRS Cafeteria. The OCRS PTA 5th grade committee will be hosting a party for the students immediately after the ceremony.
Smithfield High Seniors "Walk the Halls", Friday June 7th at 10:00 a.m.
The Smithfield High School seniors will be participating in the tradition of "Walking the Halls" of each of the four elementary schools on the morning of Friday, June 7th.
Last Day of School, Tuesday June 11th
The last day of school is Tuesday, June 11th.
