The latest District Newsletter for January 2019 is available at https://docs.google.com/docume... There is important information in this newsletter regarding School Ratings, the selection of an "Owner's Project Manager" for the Elementary Reconfiguration Project, and how the state's formula for education aid will impact Smithfield in 2019-20.
"How to Help Children Calm Down" article
Over the holiday break, I spent some of my time reading and catching up on professional articles. One of the most interesting articles that I read was "How to Help Children Calm Down, Techniques for helping kids regulate their emotions and avoid explosive behavior". The author does a terrific job offering some concrete approaches to helping children regulate strong emotions and I thought that it was worth sharing with all OCRS families.
New Old County Road website
Just a quick reminder that the new Old County Road website was launched before the holidays and can be found at https://oldcounty.smithfield-ps.org. There is also a new app for your phone that will allow you to stay up to date on everything that is happening at OCRS and across the district. You can download the app from the Apple App Store (iPhone) and the Google Play Store (Android phone).
