Important Information
No phones or electronic devices at school
Just a quick reminder that, according to page 9 of the School Handbook, students are not to bring electronic devices (including phones) to school. We understand that some families may want their child to have a phone in the case of an emergency, but any such phone must be kept in the student's backpack and not brought out at school. Also, students should not be making any calls or texting during the school day. If a student needs to contact their family, they need to come down to the office and Mrs. Deus will be happy to make the call. Thank you for your cooperation with this school policy.
Parent Volunteers
We welcome and encourage parents to volunteer at OCRS. If you are interested in volunteering, please make sure that you have attended the volunteer training and that your Background Check (BCI) is up to date. We always need volunteers during lunch and recess and some classroom teachers may also like to have parents volunteers help out with preparing materials for the classroom. If you would like to volunteer for your child's classroom teacher, please make sure to check with the teacher ahead of time to find out what they may need and confirm the dates and times that you are going to volunteer.
New OCRS Instagram page
Quite a few families follow all of the latest OCRS news and information on the school's Facebook page and Twitter account. We now have a new Instagram page where we will post quick photos to show what's going on at OCRS. We would love if families would follow us on Instagram!
Volunteers needed for March 27th Local Food Ambassador "Taste Testing"
We are currently in the initial planning stages for a Local Food Ambassador "Taste Testing" event on March 27th. This event will be held during the school lunches in the OCRS cafeteria and we are looking for volunteers to assist. All volunteers need to have an active background check on file and have attended volunteer training. If you may be interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Barrette.

PTA General Membership Meeting, Wednesday 2/13 at 7:00 p.m.
There will be a PTA General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, February 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the OCRS Library.
Wear RED on Thursday, 2/14 for Valentine's Day
We invite all students to wear RED to school on Thursday, February 14th for Valentine's Day!
PTA Parents Night Out, February 15th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The PTA is hosting a "Parents Night Out" on Friday, 2/15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Drop the kids off at the OCRS Gym for a movie and then enjoy a night out! The cost is $5 for the first child and $3 for each additional child, ONLY current OCRS students are eligible. This is a "first come, first served" event until it reaches capacity.
NO SCHOOL, February 18th and 19th
Even though Smithfield does not have a traditional week long "February Vacation" this year, there is no school on Monday, 2/18 and Tuesday, 2/19.
