November begins this week and that means that he Holiday Season is right around the corner! Please check out the information below about what is going on at the school, upcoming after school events, and opportunities for families.

Thank you to the board and the members of the OCRS PTA for TERRIFIC Trunk or Treat event this past Saturday. All of the PTA's planning and hard work made this event such fun for our students and families. Also, thank you to Miss Lemek, Miss Mennella, Miss Burrows, and Mrs. Preston for coming out to help celebrate. When families, teachers, and staff work together, our students win!
Recess Rocks
Mr. Barrette, Mr. Gruczka, Miss Lemek, Mrs. Gaule, and Mrs. Fortin have attended two days of training in the "Recess Rocks in RI" program. This program focuses on the power of play to transform children’s social and emotional health. Our goal is to contribute to a positive school culture by leveraging the power of safe, fun, and healthy play at school every day. Our team at OCRS is beginning to roll out the program beginning with the Kindergarten and 1st grade recess by making some improvements to how recess is organized. We will also be rolling out some "core games" for all students like "Four Square", "Switch" and others that will be available every day during outdoor recess.
The implementation of Recess Rocks will be year-long and we will be approaching it in a very purposeful and thoughtful way. Keep an eye out in the Weekly Updates for Families for continuing information about how the program is going!

Lifetouch school picture retakes are taking place on the morning of Wednesday, 11/13. A notice with the information regarding the retakes was sent home this past week.
Upcoming Dates and Events
Flu Clinic at Gallagher Middle School, Monday 11/4 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
There will be a flu clinic held at Gallagher Middle School on Monday, November 4th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Your child can get vaccinated at this clinic at no out-of-pocket cost.
PTA General Membership Meeting, Thursday 11/7 at 7:00 p.m.
There will be an OCRS PTA General Membership meeting held on Thursday, 11/7 at 7:00 p.m. in the OCRS Library. All parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend.
